    Scotchgard It!

I recently purchased two rugs that I really love from Old Time Pottery. They were each 5ft x 7ft and at $35 each, a price low enough that I can feel comfortable buying two. One is in an extremely high-traffic area: under our kitchen table. I want this area to feel cozy and also to be practical since we eat breakfast and lunch there, and some nights eat dinner as well. I bought two bottles of Scotchguard Rug and Carpet Protector from Amazon in an effort to keep these inexpensive rugs in good shape. With three kids, two dogs {and one clumsy mom} we have lots of spills and dirt.…

    Painting an Outdoor Light

Hello..it’s been a while! Summer is in full swing here and I am loving the combination of leisure and chaos that is summertime with little ones! That, by default, limits my projects, but I’m okay with that. Actually I love that. We soak up the extra time together as a family and I try to make summer break as much fun as possible, while keeping us all sane, fed and clean. I am sharing today a quick update I managed to accomplish during Sunday afternoon naptime. I have been known to allllso join in on the Sunday afternoon nap from time to time, but I opted for this little project instead…

    Improving our kitchen table

I’ve had a minor dilemma in our kitchen that was bugging me. I got this sweet and unusual octagonal table from my great aunt recently that my parents also had in our home at one point. I refinished the top of it with Restor A Finish a few months ago and we’ve been using it in our kitchen. We usually eat there and I love the idea of having heirlooms in our home, but it just wasn’t working. It has leaves on either side that are supported by legs that swing out underneath. The leaves are big, so the table isn’t functional to eat at if they are down. But, the support…

    Fireplace Surround

I spray painted the fireplace surround at our old house, so I decided to do the same here. This picture is from the day before we moved in. I do love the look of red brick, especially inside, so I wasn’t particularly eager to change that. But I didn’t love the brass surround, so that’s what I started with.  It was very simple to remove. It sat in the garage for several weeks because I have a life, haha. I did give the brick a good wash with some vinegar and water after this photo was taken. I also cleaned the brass surround really well while it was in the…

    Iron Bed

Since our daughter moved schools in the middle of the year, and the move was the biggest adjustment for her, I wanted to get her room in good shape first off. It was important to me for her room to feel comfortable and organized so she could feel at home. Also, I wanted it to be pretty, because she is the sweetest girl ever. She is really into pink and turquoise right now. And I am really into neutrals, always. I let her look at pictures on Pinterest with me and also pick out some accent pieces to make her room feel girly, but a little more mature than in…

    Change is Good!

Yesterday marked one month since we moved into our new home! I have taken a break from painting for others, but my creative juices have not stopped flowing! There are fun little projects all over the place at our house that I am getting to tackle. The to-do list is long. But whose isn’t? Yesterday I moved a box full of shoes off my bathroom counter that had been there a month, so we’re getting there! And I am loving the new place. They say if mama’s happy, everybody’s happy. You know, or something like that.. 🙂 I am excited to share some of the little projects I’ve been working…

    What’s Next?

It’s 2017! I think many people seem to feel like 2016 was a bad year. I don’t think it was bad, at all. It went super fast. Like, scary, I am so glad I take so many pictures or I wouldn’t remember it even happened, fast. But it was a good year for me! As the beginning of a new year tends to make you do, I have given some thought to what is next for “Those Littles”. I have learned so much over the last three months, since I purchased a business license. I made a bunch of baby-friendly necklaces, drew and put together some collage prints, painted very simple…

    Learning and loving it!

I am brand new to “making things and selling them” 🙂 so I am learning something new every day. Lately I have casually offered to draw and then watercolor homes and my close friends and family, along with others I don’t know quite as well, have wanted me to do this for them! I am really loving the challenge and figuring it out. I never realized until now that this was really something I could do, so I feel very fortunate. I am going slow and steady right now, not throwing myself too hard into the painting and making things because I want to focus on my little family over…
